They have made it harder to use and removed some functions altogether. If you don’t download transitions from your bank then don’t bother with this.

Quicken stacking the deck, it seems to me. I am just getting into it, so I may change my opinion later, but right off the bat there were some serious problems with getting information from my banks. If you are a Quicken 2008 owner who needs to download transactions via the web, upgrade to the new version with confidence. If you’re using Quicken now, in my experience the incrementally added features never represent anything earth shattering, they’re just tweaks. However back in 2007 their marketing team decided to increase revenue by disabling the account download feature of all Quicken products three years old, and older. It needs to be more user friendly, offer troubleshooting tips, more helps, and should show examples of different scenarios. I love that it has a bunch of different categories preloaded to help track expenses, and that it helps track our loans as well.

For some strange reason I don’t see any mention of this loss of functionality anywhere on the web. With MS Money out of the picture, I hope a reasonable competing product becomes available soon. The navigation completely changed which is OK if it is improved – it is a mess. Single click update often fails on my US Bank accounts and I have to do each one separately and type in my challenge questions about 8 times.

Also, why is it that as a consumer who has shown loyalty by having the software is forced to pay the same price as the person who has never even owned the software before” Whatever happened to upgrade pricing vs first time full program purchase” Now as more and more banks add multiple layers of security by asking secret questions, clicking on an image or clicking on PIN# at their website this feature is becoming practically useless. Now I have to go to each account’s website and then download transactions (I have 23 accounts and one step update now works for only 9 of them).
