Western food is not just hamburgers and fries. They are a big part of it, true, but Western food includes much more than that. More than simply fast food products from the United States, Western food can be food from Europe or the non-indigenous menu of North America, Australia, Oceania, and Latin America.
Australian food may also be classified as Western cuisine. The cuisine Down Under was shaped by those who settled in the country in the late 18th century, which were composed of the British settlers. Therefore, dishes in the land reflect the influences of Western cuisine blended with Asian cultures.
While Australian dishes mostly are viewed as Western food, there are dishes that continue to be native yet a favorite to them. There is the unmistakably Australian breakfast food Vegemite, fish and chips, the ANZAC biscuits and the pavlova cake, which are considered Australian national foods but also have origins in New Zealand.
Dishes that are considered Western in style in the country include those that are also seen in other countries, such as fried chicken, pizza, pasta, burgers, fries, baked lamb shank,grilled rib-eye, grilled salmon, and grilled chicken.
Asian food also have penetrated the nation. The differences between Western and Asian dishes are apparent. While meat is richly used in Western cuisine, it is only a part of a meal in Asian preparation. Asian foods serve meats in same or lesser ratios than the other ingredients, while in Western cuisine, they are the main star of the meal.
Rice is thought of as a side dish in Western fare. They are grouped alongside corn on the cob, steamed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. But in Asian dishes, they are the main part. If rice is not available, then noodles should be.
But in both Asian and Western dishes, condiments are extravagantly used. Table settings, no matter if its Western or Asian dominant, include catsup, soy sauce, vinegar, gravy, mustard, and many more.
Of all the differences between the two, the most easily distinctive is probably the serving size. In Western dishes, the meals are usually and substantially more abundant than in the conventional Asian cooking.
