We all come into network marketing with a desire for more out of life. Perhaps you are looking for greater financial security. Or perhaps you’re looking for more control over your time. Personally, the attraction to a home-based business was knowing that it provides me with an opportunity to make a greater contribution that I was able to make in my previous career along with a love of the create process of an entrepreneur.
Whatever brought you here, you arrived with a certain mindset & skill-set. Everyone starts in network marketing at a different point along a continuum of personal development. Some need only learn a couple of key skills. But others are more like myself and arrive with a disabling world-view and quite a few challenges to overcome.
Think about a combination lock. If you know a few of the numbers, but not all, you won’t be able to open the it. Success in your home-based business is similar. It requires an understanding of certain principles and strategies. Without the right perspective and skills, you won’t be successful. But once you’ve found the right combination, the lock opens easily.
Here’s the challenge: Every single person is missing some component required for success and it is different for everybody. If we’re fortunate, we’re aware of our frailties and we just need time for growth. But often we just don’t know what we don’t know. Even worse, often our “leaders” – the people that we follow – don’t have the ability to recognize what we need. So what do we do? How do we find the missing pieces?
1. Start with the end in mind. Know your ultimate goal. You will occasionally find that you’ve deviated from the correct path. But if you have a clear understanding of where you are going to end up, you can make the necessary correction to get back on track.
2. Make a firm decision that you will succeed. Don’t give yourself another possibility. The word “decide” literally means “to cut off,” as in, “to cut off from any other option.” Successful people have developed the capacity to remain resolute and maintain focus on their goals.
3. Take action. Take massive action. You haven’t really made a decision until you’ve taken action.
4. Study mentors & models. Study people that are already achieving the results you desire for yourself. Do what they do. Or better yet, study models & systems that have provided the results you want for many people.
5. Be mindful of the results that you are getting. If your behaviors are moving you further away from your goals, rather than toward them, change those behaviors. It is certain that you will need to make changes as you learn and grow. Be aware of this and be open to it.
6. Never give up. You haven’t failed, if you haven’t quit.
